Subsidies for surplus workers in the textile and garment making sector

2009 Official notification

The SOC is opening this line of subsidies to assist in the occupational integration of workers who are surplus to the textile and garment making sector as a result of the structural changes in world trade and are having special difficulty in finding work.

Types of subsidies

Each type of subsidy has a specific period of presentation of applications which can be found in its defining file.

1. Subsidies during the jobseeking process
   • To look for work
   • For professional recycling activities
2. Subsidies to provide geographic mobility
   • To finance expenses arising from moving home
   • To compensate for wage differences
3. Subsidies to help in occupational integration of workers born on or before the 25th of January 1956
4. Special subsidiesfor workers born between the 15th of June 1947 and the 1st of June 1952
5. Subsidies for promoting self-employed work

Beneficiaries

Workers that are surplus to companies from the textile and garment making sector that fulfil the requisites specified in Article 5 of Resolution TRE/3499/2008, of the 5th of November.

8.612.873 euros.

Regulation

• Resolution TRE/3499/2008, of the 5 of November, which regulates the process of warding subsidies to the workers who are surplus to the textile and garment making sector as a result of the structural changes in world trade, and opening the official notification for 2008.
• Royal Decree 5/2008, of the 11 of January, through which the occupational adaptation of the textile and garment making sector to the structural changes of in world trade.
• Resolution TRE/1499/2009, of the 14 May, which opens the call for the presentation of requests for 2009 of the subsidies to the workers who are surplus to the textile and garment making sector as a result of the structural changes in world trade.
